How You Can Help Promote the
Earth Charter Vision
As part of our effort to empower activity in the Earth Charter Initiative in a very decentralized way, ECI is now offering a variety of tools, guidelines, and recommended actions to inspire you to action. Here are six specific areas of activity for promoting the spirit of the Earth Charter as a worldwide global initiative.
Let People Know What The Earth Charter Is
You can help to communicate and inform so that more and more people know that the Earth Charter exists as a widely shared set of principles to guide the actions of people throughout the world in service to the common good.
Examples
Tell People What The Earth Charter Says
You can help to ensure that more and more people come in contact with the Charter and have a basic understanding of what it is, its significance and meaning.
Examples
Help People Understand What the Earth Charter Means
You can help to ensure that more and more people grasp the spirit of the Earth Charter at a deeper level: its systemic implications, its importance for humanity as a whole, its relevance for the future of life on the planet.
Examples
Make Earth Charter values part of your daily life
You can help to ensure that more and more people become inspired to live the spirit of the Earth Charter in their daily lives - as a major source of personal inspiration and guidance, in everything they do in their personal lives, as workers, as leaders, as artists, etc.
Examples
Use the Earth Charter as a Tool for Transformation
You can help to ensure that more and more people make personal commitments to create the conditions that could lead society to directions aligned to the principles expressed in the Earth Charter, thus creating alternatives to transform positively and imaginatively the existing system and the lifestyle it stimulates by proposing changes in laws, institutions, etc.
Examples
Sustain the Earth Charter Initiative
You can help to ensure that more and more people organize themselves in self-generated, self-organizing, more organic, "biological" forms of collective action/mutual aid - in person or virtually - to creatively resolve all issues that require the effective and equitable allocation of time/ energy/ knowledge/ expertise/ know-how/ services, and even material resources, thereby fostering an "economy of abundance", replacing excessive dependence on money with genuine service, sharing of space, equipment, labs, technological resources, unused credit, mileage credits, etc.
