"Sustainable Development and Human Settlements in the Current Millennium" will be the central theme of the abovementioned congress to be held at the Faculty of Architecture of BUAP (Autonomous University of Puebla) in Mexico, where several national and international universities will take part. One of the objectives of the meeting is to exchange experiences with the participating institutions through discussion and analysis of territorial, regional, urban, natural and built patrimony problems, as well as to collaborate in the search of sustainable solutions.

Earth Charter endorsers or users who are in the Amsterdam region in early May should consider putting the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) ‘Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency’ on their agenda. Earth Charter International is pleased to announce the publication of its 2007 Annual Report. It is worth mentioning that this publication is just a synopsis of Earth Charter-based actions and provides a general overview of the activities of the Initiative throughout the world.
The Taiwan Ecological Stewardship Association (TESA), Earth Charter Affiliate in Taiwan, has developed the abovementioned material. This series consist of four volumes. The title of one of the volumes is: “From Land Ethics to Earth Charter.” The volumes are in Taiwanese and have 1,192 pages. The editor of this series is Nancy Tzu-Mei Chen, general secretary and founder of TESA. The content is mainly intended as reference reading for the general education on environmental ethics related courses in university, and can be very informative also for the school teachers, churches or NGOs.

Many chapters of “Sustaining Life on Earth” emphasize that we are suffering the consequences of relying on failed technical rather than untried social approaches. The two intertwined themes of the book are “duty” and “ecological integrity”.
