Mission

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

Earth Charter Task Force on Religion, Spirituality, and Ethics launches its Plan of Action

At the Earth Charter Scholar’s Consultation that was held end of February 2009 in Florida, leading members of the Earth Charter Task Force on Religion, Spirituality, and Ethics prepared their Plan of Action. The Task Force that will be led by the Earth Charter Commissioners Mary Evelyn Tucker and Rabbi Awraham Soetendorp aims to engage a broad range of individuals, institutions, and organizations concerned with religion, spirituality, and ethics, and the Earth Charter. It intends to assist these individuals and groups in integrating the Earth Charter with their efforts toward creating a just, peaceful, and sustainable future for the earth community. Please feel invited to contribute to the implementation of the Plan by spreading the Earth Charter in your religious community. Please download the Plan of Action here.
