Mission

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

ECYG wiki acknowledged by Wikispaces

Wikispaces are simple web pages that are easy and fast to edit. Currently Wikispaces is hosting over 1,430,000 wikis and they have products designed for the smallest classroom and the world's largest corporations and institutions. http://www.wikispaces.com/

Within Earth Charter Initiative the Wikispaces are used to present all the youth and student groups and their work. Every group has an own online profile that they can edit themselves. Earth Charter Youth and Student Group wiki can be found here.

The purpose of these Earth Charter Youth and Student Group Profiles is to facilitate the familiarization of potential new members with current ECYGs, and it also serves as an information channel from one group to another. The profiles consist of basic information of the ECYGs, activity reports and pictures of the group and events. In this way the profiles also help other ECYGs when brainstorming new ideas and projects to be implemented in their respective areas.

Some of the Earth Charter Youth Group profiles have been visited more than 6000 times!

Now Wikispaces is presenting Earth Charter Youth and Student Group Wiki as a great example of how non-profits are using wikis! With this they want to show others how wikis can help “organizations to reach out to their communities, manage volunteers, create resources, and more”. http://blog.wikispaces.com/2009/12/how-non-profits-are-using-wikis.html
