Mission

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

Global Youth Service Day

Earth Charter International’s secretariat urges all youth and youth groups to serve and celebrate on Global Youth Service Day!

Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world. Millions of youth will participate in the 22nd Annual Global Youth Service Day on April 23-25, 2010. Over the past 22 years, Global Youth Service Day has brought together more than 40 million people in thousands of communities worldwide, in over 100 countries in every region of the world.

Note that if you are younger than 26, you are eligible for applying for a grant for your project! Miley Cyrus & Youth Service America award 100 $500 grants to support projects addressing critical community needs such as poverty, education, and environmental sustainability. Grant applications are due February 22, 2010. Read more here. This is a perfect opportunity for Earth Charter youth network activists!

This is a great occasion to organize your Earth Charter +10 event and link it with a larger campaign of youth activism. What is Earth Charter +10?
