Mission

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

Forum "Communication and Sustainability" in Rio de Janeiro uses the EC as a guide

In this third edition, participants will address key themes concerning the understanding of the concept of sustainability; as in the previous editions of this forum (the first forum took place in Brasilia in 2008 and the second in Sao Paulo in 2009) the Earth Charter will again be used as a guide and reference for the discussions.

At the closing of the event on 20 May, a show is being organized to celebrate the 10th anniversary since the launch of the Earth Charter. The show will celebrate human diversity, through the principles that value human rights, peace and integration among nations. The event, that is being organized by Atitude Brasil, will take place at: Vivo Rio, Av. Infante Dom Henrique, 85, Parque do Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
