Mission

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

How to be active

The Earth Charter youth network is based on 4 levels of activism: individual, Earth Charter Youth Group, Youth Task Force and Youth Partnership.

  • Individual activists can do several matters individually, such as promote the EC within their peers, take part in global EC activities (such as e-GLO online leadership course), help the secretariat to define potential youth organizations in their home countries, organize workshops on the EC etc. Their work will be reported on the Wikispaces to encourage the others to join their work.
  • Earth Charter Youth/Student Groups are groups of youth studying Earth Charter, getting inspired by it and then organizing small action projects in their local communities on sustainability.
  • Earth Charter Youth Task Force is a group of international youth working together online to promote the Earth Charter globally among the young people. The Task Force is open to everyone!
  • Organizational Partners are youth organizations that want to actively promote the Earth Charter in their work. They fully embrace the EC and integrate it into their actions.
