The Centers Relationship with the University for Peace

The Center's Relationship with the University for Peace

The Center is based at the Costa Rica campus of the University for Peace (UPEACE), and has a formal strategic partnership with UPEACE. Among other things, this partnership involves the following:

  • The EC Center offers a course on Sustainable Development to one of UPEACE Master Programmes.
  • The EC Center keeps in close contact with the faculty of UPEACE and offer advice regarding the inclusion of Earth Charter and related materials in UPEACE courses, when this is appropriate and helpful. This includes advising students.
  • The EC Center and UPEACE seek opportunities for joint initiatives to offer training to selected audiences on issues of peace, sustainable development, and global ethics.
  • The EC Center and UPEACE explore collaboration on the development of university level courses to be used by either or both of the Parties in face-to-face and distance learning. Such courses may be offered jointly to UNESCO as a contribution to the Decade for Education on Sustainable Development.
