Guillem Ramis, who was coodinatoring VIVIM PLEGATS (Living Together, a multicultural program for peace education and cooperation based in the Balearic Islands (Spain), has made a very important contribution by providing adaptations of the Earth Charter for children and young people in the following languages: Catalan, English, Euskara, French, German, Greek, Japonese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The web-site also has the the adaptations organized by language, included the lastest adaptation for children from 3-5 years!

This Handbook has been designed as a source of information for all those who are interested in learning more about the Earth Charter. Information is provided here about those key individuals and organizations that have and continue to support the Earth Charter, the program of activities that comprise the Earth Charter Initiative, and the organizational structure that has been established. A brief summary of the rich history of the Earth Charter is also detailed, providing the necessary context to understand how the Earth Charter relates to the global sustainability agenda. The full text of the Earth Charter has been included as an appendix.

Toronto & Region Conservation Authority, Canada

After its endorsement of the Earth Charter, the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) used a very interesting chart to better understand the vision and prepare its implementation of the Earth Charter.

1. They went through the Charter and pointed out the principles specially relevant to them.
   
2. They listed the associated sub-principles, and then for each of them, they came up with:
   
   • their interpretation and comments of the sub-principle,
     
   • how it can be implemented in their organization.

The attached document is an example of the Chart TRCA used.

The Earth Charter exhibition titled "Seeds of Change: The Earth Charter and Human Potential," can be downloaded here in PDF format (the file size is 2,211 KB). The exhibition highlights the Earth Charter as a "map" pointing the way toward sustainable living. Japanese, Chinese and Spanish language versions are in the process of being produced. The exhibition was prepared as a joint collaboration between the Earth Charter Initiative and Soka Gakkai International, and is now circulating around the world.

It portrays the need for sustainable development and introduces the positive vision of the Earth Charter along with examples from India, Costa Rica and Kenya of individuals acting to solve local environmental problems such as deforestation and water shortage. It is expected to be shown in many locations and is available (in better quality of resolution) to interested groups in CD form in several different languages upon request. Depending on the budget and space available, the number of panels utilized, the method of printing and the size of each panel can vary.

This Earth Charter Workshop Tool Kit was compiled by Nicole Jiron Beirute. It is an instrument and guide to use when organizing an Earth Charter Workshop. It has different sections from which you can choose the one you need to undertake the design of your workshop depending on the goal of the activity.

The 870 tribes of Papua New Guinea used the Earth Charter as a a model to create their Tribal Charter through a process of public stake-holder consultations that follow the drafting process of the Earth Charter. Please view their final 'Mama Graun Tribal Charter' as an example of what any community or group could arrive at using the Earth Charter for inspiraion.

During the two-year period covered by this report, the Earth Charter Initiative has made substantial progress towards the objectives and priorities determined by the Steering Committee and the Commission, particularly in the areas of governmental support, Earth Charter dissemination and increased utilization of the Earth Charter in both formal and non-formal educational settings.

The Earth Charter Initiative is the collective name for the extraordinarily diverse, global network of people, organizations, and institutions who participate in promoting the Earth Charter, and in implementing its principles in practice.

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to help establish a sound ethical foundation for the emerging global society and to
promote the transition to a sustainable way of life founded on: respect and care for the community of life; ecological integrity;
universal human rights; respect for diversity; economic justice; democracy; and a culture of peace.
