Global Youth Service Day: April 20-22

GYSDLogo2007-2.jpg As a member of the International Coordinating Committee, ECYI urges all youth and youth groups to serve and celebrate on Global Youth Service Day (GYSD)! Please read the following message from Silvia Golombek, one of the main organizers of GYSD, for more information. - Dominic

"Dear Friends of Global Youth Service Day,

GYSD, the largest celebration of youth service, will be held on April 20-22 around the world. All schools, faith-based groups, youth organizations, and agencies are encouraged to plan and highlight youth-led community service projects. Participants can use this opportunity to highlight existing projects to the media and surrounding community, or may choose to organize special projects and events to address the most pressing needs in their community.

The number of countries confirming their participation in GYSD is fast approaching 100. However, this is the time when we need your help for that last push to ensure we have many more countries join the celebration.

Register your project today at www.gysd.net/apply and help build a global youth service movement! For questions or additional information please visit www.gysd.net or contact info@gysd.net .

Countries that have not confirmed participation yet are:

Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Botswana, Chad, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Mali, Netherlands, Palestine, Romania, South Korea, Thailand, UAE, and Vietnam.

Thank you!"

I know that we have active ECYI youth in a couple of these countries. I especially encourage those of you in the Netherlands and Romania to participate in GYSD! For those of you already participating in GYSD, like our Youth Group in Peru, you can "Post a Comment" below concerning your planned activities. - Dominic
