Mission

The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

Art

The Earth Charter has inspired a number of artists in the development of their art work. It is hoped that the Earth Charter will continue to inspire artist and the language of arts will increasingly be used to further spread the sustainability vision articulated in the Earth Charter.

Here are the winners of the Earth Charter and Odyssey 2050 video contest.
The "Graphics for Nature" project, inspired by the Earth Charter, was created by Carlos Codespoti  and coordinated by the Xama Asociation in Curitiba, Brazil
ECI has launched a student design contest to inspire students to submit ideas for a new poster and brochure.
The nature photography exhibition by Eduard Müller, Jesús Moreno, and Alejandro Rodríguez integrates the Earth Charter vision of sustainability.
CEE India, under its Paryavaran Mitra programme, organized a photo competition based on the Earth Charter.
Educarte para Valorarte (Educating you to Value yourself) is a project from Spain that emphasizes the personal development of values through art, using the Earth Charter as the basis.
Artist, filmmaker, and Earth Charter activist Jessica White discusses her experience with the Earth Charter Global Learning Opportunity (e-GLO) and how the Earth Charter has influenced her work since her participation in e-GLO2.
From September 12-16th, 2011 representatives from Earth Charter International participated in a workshop to create a youth music contest for Rio+20.

The Earth Charter Show will be presented at SESC Vila Mariana at 1:30 pm in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 1 and 15, 2011.

The Earth Charter International (ECI) is conducting its first-ever International Video Contest, in collaboration with Odyssey 2050 movie project and the British Embassy in Costa Rica.  Deadline for participation is 30 November 2011.
